What readers have to say...
Paula Eriksen's Adventure

A chance encounter on the family’s pool deck in Spain, led to my becoming friends with a racing pigeon. At the urging of a my teacher friend Nancy, I began my first literary adventure. With 3 beautiful granddaughters, under the age of 5, the time seemed right to share Pedro's adventure with them and the world. It has been a wonderful journey! I have met so many fun, helpful and creative people along the way. Without them, Pedro would never have flown from his loft! I look forward to meeting many more
fun and interesting people as I share Pedro in school visits and readings.
As a child, a wife and a mother, I have lived around the world. I have called home to Venezuela, Canada, Panama, USVI, Indonesia, Spain, as well as Texas and Massachusetts. Growing up in Venezuela as a child, and going to my in-laws home in Spain for 35 years, Spanish has always been part of my life. It is a great feeling to be able to converse in another language. For this reason, it seemed only natural that Pedro was bilingual. I have always been intrigued by wildlife, some preferably from a distance! I lived in the beautiful coastal town of Ipswich, MA, with my husband, Leif and fur-baby, Floyd and was fortunate to have been able to observe swans, geese, heron, egrets, sandpipers, and even a flock of pigeons, in addition to other interesting coastal critters. Recently, I moved to North Carolina, where a new adventure awaits.
It was my good fortune to have met illustrator, Michelle Verfaillie in Ipswich, MA before Michelle moved to Ireland. A joint friend reacquainted us a few years later, all the way from Ireland. The fortuitous reunion led to a wonderful collaboration. As a life long artist she was able to bring my vision for Pedro to life, with her unique blend of creativity, experience, and passion. It was my "Lucky Day" , the minute Michelle agreed to be my illustrator.
